Taking Flight | Aerial Yoga for Beginners Workshop | 26 March | 6:30-8:30pm | £45
“I may not have wings, but I can still fly.”
This carefully curated page of information aims to provide you with a little background about Aerial Yoga.
Take Your Practice to New Heights
Aerial yoga blends movement, breath, and play—using a soft silk hammock to support, strengthen, and stretch your body in ways you never thought possible. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced yogi, aerial invites curiosity, creativity, and a whole lot of fun.
A Brief History
Inspired by ancient practices like Yoga Karunta (rope wall yoga) and hammocks dating back thousands of years, aerial yoga has evolved with influences from dance, acrobatics, and traditional asana. Today, it’s an accessible practice that allows you to explore movement with the added support of the hammock.
Why Try Aerial Yoga?
- Build Strength & Flexibility – Engage muscles without strain.
- Decompress & Align – Relieve pressure on joints and the spine.
- Master Inversions with Ease – Go upside down safely, with support.
- Boost Creativity & Confidence – Play, explore, and challenge yourself.
- Deepen Relaxation – The hammock becomes a floating cocoon for ultimate stillness.
No experience? No problem. You’ll start low to the ground, learning foundational poses before progressing at your own pace.
What to Expect in Class
We keep it safe, welcoming, and relaxed—but punctual! The silk is suspended close to the ground over a yoga mat for support, and sessions gradually build confidence in movement. Numbers are limited, so early booking is recommended.
Aerial Yoga Etiquette & What to Bring
To keep the hammocks in top condition and ensure a smooth experience:
✔ Wear fitted, stretchy clothing that covers your legs and upper arms.
✔ Bring a yoga mat and water bottle.
✔ Tie up long hair and remove all jewellery.
✔ Avoid lotions, perfume, makeup, and false tan before class.
✔ Come prepared—no eating an hour before class, and notify us of any medical conditions.
